Description
Short jumper with raglan 3/4 sleeves with patterning and folded, hand stitched edges at cuffs and bottom hem. The body is knitted in a midnight blue and the sleeves in an aubergine purple with patterning in aubergine and blue. The pattern Vanttu is new for 2023.
Elmina is 174 cm tall and usually wears size EU40/UK12/M.
Vanttu Pattern
This pattern was designed after discovering the vast collection of patterns and mittens by Erika Nordvall Falck. In the very North of Sweden it was long a tradition to make and sell brightly patterned mittens – often a specific pattern by every knitter. There are hundreds of different patterns, always in bright colours and knitted tightly in wool. These mittens were made for family members and also gave women a source of income for their families. The patterns travelled all over the Arctic North with knitters being inspired by the patterns they saw in knits from far away. In this pattern I have combined some popular designs from regional mittens, using the repeated patterns vertically instead as they were knitted horizontally.
