Description
Vallsta is a new pattern for 2023 inspired by the beautiful hand printed patterns on the walls of the Unesco heritage site Gästgivars Decorated Farmhouse. This way of hand printing walls was commonly used all around the area of Hälsingland in Sweden – travelling artists decorated the walls instead of using wallpaper which was too expensive at the time. On the last pictures you can see two of the walls that inspired the pattern. These were on the top floor of one of the houses, an area used for village partys, weddings etc.
The shawl is knitted on an electronic domestic knitting machine in my home studio in Hälsingland. More information on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites Decorated farmhouses of Hälsingland (Hälsingegårdar in Swedish).
Colour: Melange, silver grey with patterning in a geryish petrol colour and edges in mustard yellow, darker grey and white, stitches along bottom hems in white.
Washing: Hand wash with liquid detergent for wool. Dry flat and iron with steam on a wool setting. This scarf will get more textured after wash, which can be ironed out with steam.
