The pattern Ut till Fjälls:
Vanttu is a pattern inspired by the many, many different patterns knitted on bright coloured mittens around Tornedalen in the very North of Sweden. Each village had a different pattern, each knitter their own version of the patterns. Ut till Fjälls means “Into the Mountains” in Swedish. This is a new pattern created in the autumn 2024. It is inspired by the mountain ranges of Tänndalen in the North West of Sweden, close to the Norwegian border. I went here durung the summer for a camping trip and even though this area is hours South from the mountains I grew up in, it felt like coming home.
Size: Medium
The fit is snug and warm and a more fitted mitten.
Washing: Hand wash with liquid detergent for wool. Dry flat and iron with steam on a wool setting. This mittens can be ironed with steam.
